Living a different live in Portugal

The village of Ponta do Sol, with its 8,500 inhabitants on Madeira, has become the first European village for digital nomads since the Corona pandemic. The government's initiative aims to bring young creatives together with local businesses and residents of Ponta do Sol and Madeira Island.  "Digital Nomads Madeira" offers newcomers low-cost rooms, free offices and a stable and secure fiber-optic Internet connection - atypical for such a small island. Madeira is also considered the EU's tax haven, as the island is a free trade zone - tax rates at five percent are very low. This is not only to improve the island's economy, but also to bring other cultures closer to the locals. More and more German freelancers of the "generations Y and Z" are therefore drawn to the sunny Ponta do Sol. Many become happy here, others are still searching for luck.
